Questions

Things People Often Ask

Do I need to leave my watch for an assessment?
In most cases, yes — a brief look in person gives us far more information than a description. For straightforward issues, the initial look takes only a few minutes. You are welcome to wait or return at a convenient time.
How long does a basic service typically take?
A standard diagnostic and basic service usually takes between three and seven working days, depending on the movement and what is found. We will give you a realistic timeframe after the initial assessment.
What happens if parts are needed?
We will contact you before ordering anything. Parts and their costs are discussed with you, and work only proceeds with your agreement. For restorations involving period components, we explain what is available and at what cost before the project begins.
Is a full restoration suitable for an old family watch?
Yes, this is precisely what the full restoration service is designed for. We treat heirlooms with care for their history. Before starting, we prepare a written plan so you can review the scope and approach at your own pace.
My watch is not a well-known brand — can you still help?
We work with a range of mechanical movements regardless of brand. If a watch falls outside our scope, we will tell you honestly rather than attempt work we are not equipped for.
How should I care for my watch after service?
We provide simple care advice at the point of collection, including any sensible limitations on water contact. Most mechanical watches benefit from a service every four to six years, though use and conditions vary.
